The leaders at the time were sent down the old course, but this year's course has some new additions. They lost a small amount of time and have been back on track for some time now. It will make a course record harder, but it's a long race and a war of attrition and the strongest will still win

Remember that all of the big favorites for the men's race were in that lead group that was directed off course by a well-meaning person not associated with the race. Over the course of this race, less than six minutes probably won't shift the strongest out of the lead. The race will still be between the main contenders, in my opinion, and won't dramatically change the overall. I may eat those words, but I really believe that the guys caught up in the mess will still win the race
