looks like only 5 teams now with all 9 still in the race. that is a feat in itself
Sørensen has opened the action at the front with 10.3km to go.
The group is back together, looking around.
Back in the bunch, Pineau and Martin Velits are bringing Leipheimer up from the cars.
Cheers, thanks for following along!
Dimoulin, Voeckler are chasing ahead of Vande Velde.
Well, if there's anyone in this group who is likely a worse sprinter than VDV, it's Sorensen.
The break is together with 7km to go.
Fedrigo is off, Vande Velde is chasing.
Fedrigo and Vande Velde have a quick handful of seconds.
Vande Velde and Fedrigo now together. Better odds, but the Frenchman does have a decent kick.
The two leaders are together and are working hard together.
Fedrigo is a crafty racer. So is Voeckler.
Vande Velde looks strong.
They have a lot of daylight.
Fairly unorganized chase behind CVV and Fedrigo.
The four in back are disorganized. Dumoulin isn't pulling through. Voeckler goes alone now.
The four chasers are just gaming each other.
The other three won't tow Dimoulin to the front.
Voeckler has left the other three chasers, but isn't committed.
Dumoulin doesn't have the legs, it seems. Or he is rolling the dice and hoping it comes back together without his help. He'd likely take the stage win if it did.
Now Sørensen takes up the chase, but again, he won't commit.
A stage win for CVV would be huge, for him and for his battle weary Garmin squad. Assuming they stay away, beating Fedrigo won't be easy.
Now Devenyns goes. With 3.2km to go, I think these boys are gone.
The finish narrows a bit, but that won't matter to the two men up front. A 90-degree left hand corner at 500m won't bother them much either.
The two leaders are under the 3km to go banner. Sørensen and Voeckler have left Dumoulin and Devenyns.
From LeTour.fr: Vande Velde and Fedrigo are in 15 seconds ahead of the other escapees as they reach the 3km to go mark. Devenyns is the most aggressive of the chasing riders.
Dumolin is dropped from the chase
And the lead tandem is under 2km.
Dumoulin is off the back, Devenyns is chasing Sørensen and Voeckler.
1km to go now for leading pair
Fedrigo leads Vande Velde under the kite.
CVV going to have to play this smart; he's sitting on Fedrigo now
Vande Velde sits in the wheel.
Fedrigo being forced to lead it out. Up against the barriers trackie-style, and he goes!
Vande Velde can't come around.
Fedrigo wins sprint from the front. Christian didn't have the speed to match it.
What's that, four French stage wins thus far?
Well played by Fedrigo. A perfectly timed attack took advantage of the break's late games.
