The Tour starts today under a cloud, after RadioShack-Nissan pulled Fränk Schleck late Tuesday after the UCI informed him that he'd returned an Adverse Analytical Finding for the banned diuretic, Xipamide. We've also lost Vladamir Gusev today in a crash on the descent from the Aubisque.
We won't spend much time talking about Schleck in our live coverage — we have a bike race to enjoy, after all. I will say that Schleck has said he will request the analysis of his B Sample and if it is positive, he will file a poisoning complaint. -

There was no change in the top of the points classification at today's intermediate sprint, at the base of the Aubisque. The break scooped up all the points, with the first five looking like this:
1. Paulinho (STB) 20pts
2. Casar (FDJ) 17pts
3. Kruiswijk (RAB) 15pts
4. Arashiro (EUC) 13pts
5. Vorganov (KAT) 11pts -
The front of the break is swelling again. We'll have an update on who's made it back to the group when we have it. It seems as though that test acceleration from Martin was a bit too much. He won't want to go over the Tourmalet with just two men and 77km to go. -

Interestingly, Nibali has no mates up front. Szmyd and Basso have been decent in the mountains, but not as strong as the Sky guys. I expected Nibali to start attacking on the Tourmalet, but with no teammates up front, he'd likely isolate himself with Wiggins and Froome early. -

Kessiakoff is back with Ten Dam, Sørensen and Hincapie, about 20s behind the leaders. The Astana man is looking to limit his KOM losses. Voeckler took top points at the Aubisque, ahead of Kessiakoff, to make our top four on KOM look like this, unofficially:
1. Fredrik Carl Wilhelm KESSIAKOFF, Astana: 89 points
2. Pierre ROLLAND, Europcar: 55 points
3. Chris Anker SÖRENSEN, Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank: 53 points
4. Thomas VOECKLER, Europcar: 62 points -
